Disney Bringing the Heat: “Avatar” coming to Animal Kingdom

Disney announced that it has secured the theme park rights to James Cameron’s Avatar – the number-one box office movie of all time – for a new themed land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Construction will begin by 2013 for the  land, which will include multiple rides and other experiences (figure some shopping and dining, too). The debut is scheduled for 2016. Walt Disney Imagineering is in the design phase now, and James Cameron is working with them on the project.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. What would you do with Disney’s Avatar land? Will it be much of a rival to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter? Put it in a comment!

I like “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter”, but when Avatar is here, no other place will have a chance. I hate the fact that it’s debute is in 2016, but that will probably be around the next time I go there. I hope they do it right. The movie’s 3-D aspect and groundbreaking effects were meant to put you in a dream world, and the land will do just that even better. They should make a roller coaster called, the banshee. The over all scenery should be as good as Jurassic Park at Universal, but Avatar-like.
